Get to know us

Bless The Maker was born from a simple frustration — one that every Alberta artisan knows too well.

You pour your heart into what you make. You show up at markets in all weather, set up your table, tear it down, work hard to engage and sell your products, and then do it all again next weekend. You dream of a permanent home for your craft — a place where customers can find you any day of the week, where your work is displayed beautifully, and where you can focus on what you love most: making - not being a retail salesperson on top of everything else you already do.

We know that dream because it was ours.

Our Story

Robin and Kalev Doan have been part of the Alberta maker community since 2017. It started with custom t-shirts and drinkware made onsite at local farmers markets. We learned firsthand what it means to create something with your hands and put it in front of customers. For Robin, that creative journey evolved into crafting small-batch soaps and body products that have found their way into the hands of many customers who value quality, care, and local authenticity.

Over the years, we watched talented makers struggle with the same barriers over and over — outdoor markets in bad weather, indoor markets with little to no customers, juggling bathroom breaks and long days selling, wearing many hats to manage a storefront while also trying to keep up with production. We saw beautiful hand-crafted products - and we saw exhausted artisans.

We knew there had to be a better way.

So We're Building This:

Bless The Maker is our answer to a problem we lived. We combined Robin’s 30+ years in administration, IT, and e-commerce with Kalev’s background in retail management, merchandising, and professional marketing, to build something neither of us could have created alone — a store that runs with the operational discipline of premium retail and the genuine heart of the maker community.

Every decision we make — from the width of our aisles to the live demonstrations and maker stories we share on social media — comes from that dual perspective on how we can help you succeed. We know what makers need. We know what shoppers want. And we built Bless The Maker to bridge that gap.

Concept rendition and not the real store.

What We Believe

We believe Alberta makers deserve a professional home that reflects the quality of what they create, and the chance to showcase their stories as well as their products.

We believe shoppers deserve to discover beautiful, authentic, locally made goods in a space that feels as good as the products inside it and connect with makers on an interactive and personal level at the same time.

We believe that makers should be free to focus on their craft and not sales, and We believe that when makers thrive, communities thrive.

That belief is baked into everything at Bless The Maker — from our curated vendor selection and professional store layout, to our marketing investment, live maker demonstrations, and real-time vendor reporting. We’re don’t rent you a shelf. We are your full service retail partner – if you don’t succeed – we don’t succeed!
